April 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box

Vegan Cuts was the first subscription box I subscribed to. I really enjoy their beauty box and have received so many great products since I started getting the boxes in October 2015. I’ve found that I’m constantly pleasantly surprised by the selection of products. I’ve gotten so many things I thought I was going to hate that I’ve already re-purchased or plan to buy when I run out. April’s box was no exception.

Products I received:

Sage & Arrow Blissful Bath Melt- RV $4

Eco Lips Lip Balm in Sweet Mint- RV $2.50

Cocokind Organic Facial Repair Serum- RV $14

Routine Natural Deodorant- RV $2

Goddess Garden Organics Natural Facial Sunscreen- RV $5

Joshik Polish in 254- RV $12

Marrakesh Endz Split End Mender- RV $6

Since I’ve been getting beauty boxes I’ve dreaded receiving a bath bomb because our apartment only has a shower. I saw photos of the April box online before mine came in the mail and was saw that other subscribers were getting bath bombs. I’ll admit that I freaked a little inside and mentally tried to figure out if there was a time I could go to my family’s house and take a relaxing bath when no one would be home. Luckily, I received a bath melt/lotion bar. The Sage & Arrow Blissful Bath Melt is made with organic shea and cocoa butter, lavender, chamomile and calendula and came in cute little heart shape, (which melted in the hot sun while I was taking pictures). I used it to moisturize after shaving. My skin felt so soft and the shower smelled like flowers!

I really like getting lip balms in my beauty boxes. I have so many now that I keep one in my purse, one in my backpack I use for work, and one in each room of our apartment! The Eco Lips is made with all-natural, bee-free ingredients. I received the sweet mint flavour which is really nice and refreshing to use compared to the crazy flavours I have stashed everywhere.

I didn’t realize I was picky with serums until I tried the Cocokind Organic Facial Repair Serum. It’s made with virgin coconut and avocado oil. It pumps out of the bottle very oily and took a bit of time to absorb into my skin. It smells good and made my face feel nice when it did eventually absorb, but I think I prefer a creamier serum. Less mess.

I have yet to find the absolute perfect natural deodorant, so I was very excited to try the sample of Routine. I’m not sure which scent I was sent, (the boxes included lavendery loveliness, spicy earth goodness, or patchouli and vanilla). It’s either spicy earth goodness or patchouli and vanilla. I really wanted to like this product. It’s slightly watery, feels slightly gritty while rubbing it in, which didn’t bother me, and absorbs quickly. I couldn’t get over the smell though. It really lingered in my clothes and attached to any fabric my armpit touched, (even through other fabrics). I’m going to use up the sample. I’d be willing to try a different scent, but this one is just too much for me.

The Goddess Garden Facial Sunscreen is makeup friendly and made with a blend of coconut oil, green tea, and immortelle flower oil. I’m happy that I have a backup facial sunscreen for when I run out of what I’m currently using.

The Joshik Nail Polish was easily my favourite item in the box. 254 is such a rich pink and I thought I was going to hate it. It’s such a lovely colour. It kind of reminds me of raspberry mousse. The formula is perfectly thick and creamy allowing for an opaque first coat. I will definitely be purchasing more of these polishes when I finish up some of my old ones.

I go through lotions and hair products at a pace where I’m constantly trying new things. I love Biosilk Original Silk Therapy Serum, but it’s not cruelty free. The Marrakesh Endz Split End Mender seems like a pretty dupe for the Biosilk so far. It has a nice silky texture and a light argan oil scent. I love how it smooths my ends after blow drying. My hair looks and feels so healthy after applying!

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box costs $22.95 per month and contains 4-7 deluxe sized samples and full sized products. From my experience, a lot of what comes in the box is deluxe sized skin and hair care samples, which is good if you’re looking to try new things. Overall, I really like getting this box and feel like it’s worth the price.
