Another month, another box. To be honest, I really thought I was going to be very unhappy with the products when I opened this month’s Petit Vour beauty box. I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong, especially because this month marked the company’s third anniversary!

The Ecco Bella Good for You Gloss was the first thing I noticed when I opened this box. I was actually mildly considering not even opening it and trying to sell it in the cruelty-free makeup sell and swap group I’m in on Facebook because I’m intimidated by dark coloured lip products. I’m happy that I gave it a shot. The shade ‘Power’ is a beautiful red wine colour. It’s very simple and mess free to apply. It’s tacky to the touch, (like most glosses are), but not to an annoying extent. I love that this product comes with an attached mirror for on-the-go application and that it builds very nicely so that someone like me can apply it lightly without the super vampy feeling you get with dark lips.
Swatches from left to right: morning sunlight, morning shade, my warm kitchen lighting
I’ve read many things about the power of charcoal in whitening teeth, but I never had the urge to try it. The Bedrock and Bloom Smart Ash All Natural & Organic Teeth Whitener is made with activated coconut shell charcoal, calcium bentonite clay, organic orange peel extract, organic frankincense, and organic mint extract. The Smart Ash product card says that it’s safe enough to use daily and can be used as a toothpaste alternative. After using the product, I personally feel like I still need to use conventional toothpaste because as clean as my teeth felt, my mouth still felt morning nasty. The first time I used Smart Ash, I did get a little bit on my clothes and realized that the product card wasn’t kidding about this being an outfit ruiner when I was trying to was it off my shirt. Luckily, I was just in pajamas! I’ve only used this product twice so far and haven’t really noticed a huge difference in how white my teeth are.
I’m not going to lie, I don’t dream about being a mermaid one day like so many other girls, (at least on the internet), do. I would much rather be a pirate. The Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Spray could be great for either lifestyle choice I suppose. As a girl with very fine straight hair, products that promise to make my hair do anything never really work. I’ve used a couple different sea salt sprays, including this one, and my hair doesn’t get magical beachy waves. This spray does help my hair by giving it a little more texture than it usually has, so I can use less bobby pins when pinning an updo or keep a clip/hair flower in all day without constantly having to re-adjust it. It has a nice, light, not very salty smell.
I’m a fan of face masks, but so many I’ve used don’t seem to do much for my skin. The Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel, Blemish Clearing actually made me feel like it was doing something. I’ve used it twice and each time felt different. The first time I tried this peel, my face felt like it was burning a bit, but not in a bad way. The second time, I only felt the mildest tightening as the peel dried. After both applications my face was slightly red and my chin blackheads were gone. Anything that makes chin blackheads go away gets a huge shiny gold star in my book!
