I really enjoyed the May Benevolent Beauty Box. This is only the second box they’ve released and both months have had an amazing selection of products. If you’re not already subscribing to this box, you’re missing out. This month’s box is valued at $142.
In this month’s box I received:
Bellapierre Cosmetics HD Makeup Primer- RV $75
Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint in ‘Hospitable’- RV $19
Gourmet Body Treats Agrimony Eye Cream- RV $18 (Vegan)
Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipstick in ‘Obnoxious Request’- RV $10 (Vegan)
Vapour Organic Beauty Mesmerize Eyeliner in ‘Truffle’- RV $20
When Benevolent Beauty Box released the spoiler that the Bellapierre Cosmetics HD Makeup Primer was going to be in this month’s box, I got very excited. I’m currently on the hunt for a new primer since I decided to start switching over to cruelty free products. The retail value of the Bellapierre primer also covers more than double the cost of the Benevolent Beauty Box monthly subscription. I like this primer more than others I’ve been using. I feel like it’s a bit thick when you pump it out of the container, but it feels light on the skin. I’ve worn this primer on hot days during wait shifts and my makeup stays on.
The Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint liquid lipstick is my favourite item in this box. I received the colour ‘Hospitable’, which is one of their Velvet shades. It’s a very light, dusty grey-rose colour. This lipstick does not come off easily. I’ve been able to eat, drink, and kiss my boyfriend without ruining or transferring. I need to scrub my lips with coconut oil and a lip scrub to remove this product. The formula is not as drying as other matte liquid lipsticks I’ve used. I’m in love and will definitely buy more Cailyn lipsticks in the future.
The Gourmet Body Treats Agrimony Eye Cream is a really nice product. I didn’t realize that it’s made of mostly oils the first time I used it. It’s hard in the jar, but melts quickly on your skin. This eye cream smells so much like the sunflower oil that it’s made with. It absorbs rather fast. I’m currently using it as a night eye cream. I haven’t noticed much in the way of reducing dark circles and fine lines, but I’ve only been using it for about a week.
I’m not a huge fan of the Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipstick. I received ‘Obnoxious Request’ which is a bright, almost neon pink. The formula is nice and light, but I found the application to be a bit thin for my liking. I’m going to play around with this product a bit more and see if my opinion on it changes. I really want to like it!
I really love the shade, (Truffle), of Vapour Beauty Mesmerize Eyeliner I received, however I don’t see myself reaching for this product often. I rarely use pencil eyeliners because I’m terrible at applying them and they tend to give a softer line than gel or liquid. The formula of this liner is awesome and the pencil even comes with a smudge sponge attached to one end. I’ll have to practice my smokey eye so that I can use this pencil.
Below are swatches of Vapour Organic Beauty Mesmerize Eyeliner in ‘Truffle’, Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint in ‘Hospitable’, and Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipstick in ‘Obnoxious Request’ in natural light (left) and my warm kitchen lighting (right).
I highly recommend this box whether or not you’re into buying cruelty-free products. It is on the pricier side at $29.95 a month, (there is a mini box for $15.95 a month that includes 2-3 full sized products). I was able to get the box at a discount over the life of my subscription using a code that is no longer active, so my monthly fee is $26.95. Benevolent Beauty Box is running a promotion where you can get 10% off your first month using the code WELCOME, (I’m not affiliated with the company. Just wanted to let you know!) Benevolent Beauty Box donates $1 per box to Humane Society International to help end animal testing and cruelty.
You can keep up with Benevolent Beauty Box at the links below. They post spoilers and info about the box. They also re-post blog posts, photos, etc. from fans and respond to messages. (I love when companies reach out to customers!)
Until next time,
