August 2016 Empties

I didn’t quite finish up a few of the products that I was trying to get through last month, but I was able to purge a significant number of things. I’m trying to declutter a bit and I keep finding so many 10+ year old products!

ecotools loofah tipsypinup

EcoTools EcoNet Recycled Bath Sponge (RV $1.97): I confess, I terrible with replacing sponges and loofahs. I think I had this one for 5-6 months and it’s still in pretty decent shape. It helps lather soap very well and saves me from using a ton of body wash. This is one of the better bath sponges I’ve tried in recent memory. It’s much softer than other sponges and it’s recyclable!

swan nail polish remover tipsypinup

Swan Strengthening Nail Polish Remover (RV $1): I really only buy this because it’s so cheap. I still haven’t started doing research on cruelty-free nail polish removers, so I just pick up whichever remover is at the dollar store. This brand doesn’t seem to work better or worse than others I’ve tried.

renpure moroccan spring water tipsypinup

Renpure Advanced Moroccan Spring Water Shampoo (RV $5.99): I tried this shampoo on a whim and fell in love. It has a very light, clean scent and you don’t need to use a whole lot of get you hair clean. I really like that this shampoo doesn’t dry out or weigh down my hair. This is my new go-to.

molly rose balms grapebasil tipsypinup

Molly Rose Balms Grapefruit Basil Scrub (RV $2 for the sample size): I received this in my May Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. The scent was nice and light. The scrub was a little on the dry side for me, but mixed with a little water it provided nice exfoliation. I was happy with this scrub, but I tend to make my own since I can make an obscenely large amount for the same price as buying one premade.

juice beauty green apple peel tipsypinup

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel, Blemish Clearing (RV $5, full size $39): I received this in my May Petit Vour Beauty Box. I LOVE this peel. The first time I used it, it made my skin burn in that way where you know the final result is going to be amazing. This product gave me the smoothest skin and really helped clear up my pores. I highly recommend this peel and I will probably buy it at some point in the future. It’s well worth the higher price point. This has to be my favourite Juice Beauty product I’ve tried.

juice beauty cleansing milk tipsypinup

Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk (RV $2.50, full size $22): I received this product in my July Petit Vour Beauty Box. I was not a huge fan of this cleansing milk. I found that it did not do a great job removing my makeup and left my skin feeling slightly waxy. This is probably my least favourite Juice Beauty product I’ve tried.

elf mineral face primer tipsypinup

e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer in ‘Green’ (RV $6.09): I bought this because I heard it was a good dupe for Smashbox Photo Finish. It works very well as a primer, but horribly as a colour corrector. The tube is also the same colour as the product, so it makes you think there is so much more primer in the container than there is. I have already bought this product in ‘Clear’ and will be using that after I finish my current primer.

biore charcoal pore strip tipsypinup

Biore Pore Minimizing Treatment Charcoal Nose Strips (RV $5.49): I never feel like pore strips work on my nose. I’ll rip it off and there will still be tons of gross blackheads just sitting in there. I honestly only bought these because they’re black and I thought they would make me feel better about life. For whatever reason, (could just be a mental thing), I feel like they work better than they used to. This strip pulled a nice amount of gunk out of my pores, but still left a lot behind. Being able to see the removed blackheads did make me feel successful though!

estee lauder modern muse perfume tipsypinup

Estee Lauder Modern Muse (sample): I’m really bad at detecting notes in perfume, so to me this smelled like other fancy perfumes or the perfume counter at a drugstore. It was quite overpowering for the amount the package gave you to use and faded away pretty quickly. Not a scent I’d wear.
