I went through a whopping 33 items in October! I’m so happy I was able to use up so much and that some of these are products I’m looking forward to purchasing again.
Auromère Ayurvedic Toothpaste (RV $1, full size $7.99): This product is from the December 2015 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. I actually liked this toothpaste more than I thought I would. It has a weird chalky/clay like texture and although it has a minty flavour, it tastes nothing like your usual mint toothpaste. My teeth did feel nice and clean after using this, but I don’t see myself purchasing it in the future.
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Deep & Dark Brown (RV $5.99): Right now, Batiste is my go to dry shampoo. I prefer spray over powder because I feel like it can get the product where I want it as opposed to accidentally dumping a ton on my head. I really like the Deep & Dark Brown variety of this product because it does not leave a white residue in my hair like pretty much every other dry shampoo I’ve used. However, if I use this a few days in a row, my roots look super dark. Batiste’s CF is up in the air, so I am researching different brands, but until I find something I like as much I will continue to use this product.
Beurre Vanilla Shea Butter Body Cream (RV $7.50, full size $22): This cream is from the October 2015 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. This stuff smells like heaven! It’s super moisturizing and a little bit goes a long way. My only real issue with this product is that it is super greasy and slow absorbing. I enjoyed having it, but I will not be purchasing the full size.
Blissoma Scentless Stick Natural Deodorant (RV $9, full size $15): I was super excited to receive this deodorant in the December 2015 Petit Vour Beauty Box. I’d been trying out different natural deodorants and was happy to find on that I didn’t have to scoop out of jar and run in with my fingers. Although I loved the application process, I didn’t love the product. I had to apply it far too often and I tended to be smelly by mid-day. I really wish this deodorant would have worked out for me.
Bodisafe Night Cream (sample, RV full size $25): This sample came as a bonus item in the April 2016 Benevolent Beauty Box. When I first opened the package, it was a nice firm cream that absorbed quickly and left my skin feeling great. After packing it in my luggage on a trip, it melted into more of a thick oil and never regained its original consistency. It was still a nice product, but it took a bit longer to absorb for some reason. I already have a night cream that I love, so I will not be purchasing a full size container.
Clinique Quick Liner for Lips in 35 Rich Red (RV $17): I’ve had this lip liner for ten years. I didn’t wear makeup for most of that time and when I did I usually forewent lipstick. I think this product is fantastic and did not lose its quality even after all that time. I love the twist up applicator as opposed to having to sharpen a pencil. It is very easy to make precise lines and fill in your lips. The colour was a richer red shade with slightly blue tones and looked amazing under whatever red lipstick I decided to wear. This product is not cruelty free so I will not be repurchasing, but I do recommend it to people who love Clinique products.
Cocokind Organic Facial Repair Serum (RV $14): This facial oil was included in the April 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. I didn’t like this oil as much as I wanted to. It was a little thick and took a bit too long to absorb for my liking. I think this serum was adding to break outs I’ve been having recently since my skin has cleared up a lot since I’ve finished this product. I don’t feel like this made my skin glowy and youthful, so I wouldn’t buy this in the future.
Derma e Purifying Daily Detox Scrub (RV $2, full size $15.50): I loved this scrub from the August 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. This scrub contains exfoliates of multiple sizes to give a through, yet gentle cleaning. This product makes my face feel so soft and clean and I will probably purchase a full size container of this in the future.
Dermorganic 8-Way Thermal Spray (RV $10): This is from the March 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. I previously wrote about this product in my July 2016 Empties post. Since using this product more, I’ve grown to like it. I don’t know if it’s going to stay my heat protector spray, but it does the job well and isn’t obscenely expensive.
e.l.f. Studio Retractable Lip Brush (RV $3): I really liked this brush at first, but it is super hard to clean and rusted rather quickly. I’ve only had it for a few months and the piece with attached to the brush broke. Normally I’m a lover of e.l.f. brushes, but I will not be repurchasing this brush.
Everclen Facial Toner (RV $15): I received this toner in the May 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. It took me a while to get used the medicine-like scent of this product, but it worked well regardless of the smell. I will not repurchase this product, but it’s not bad if you’re looking for a good toner.
Formulary 55 Grapefruit and Rosemary Sea Mineral Body Polish (RV $7): This scrub came in the August 2016 Petit Vour Beauty Box. I really enjoyed this product. The scent is very different and super relaxing. It’s quite coarse and provides excellent exfoliation. I probably will not purchase this product, but it’s a great product!
Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Oil Free Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 (RV $7.99): This is such a great sunscreen. I bought it when I was in Florida on vacation a year or so ago and it saved my face from the intense sunburn I got all over the rest of my body. This product is super hydrating and absorbs quicker than a lot of other facial sunscreens without leaving white residue behind. I wish Hawaiian Tropic was cruelty free because I haven’t found a good replacement for this yet. I have a backup bottle, but I most likely will not repurchase this product.
Juara Coconut Illipe Hand and Nail Balm (RV $2.50, full size $25): This lovely lotion was included in the April 2016 Petit Vour Beauty Box. It has such an intense coconut scent and absorbs very fast. It leaves my hands feeling amazingly soft and I’m highly considering buying a full size container once I work through my collection of lotions.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Body Moisturizer (RV $5, full size $18): I received this moisturizer in the October 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. I though this product was great. It has a nice fruity smell that sticks to your skin for a while after the lotion absorbs. It made my skin feel soft and supple. I did not feel like I needed to reapply often like I do with some other lotions. I might be buying a tube of this for the winter.
Meow Meow Tweet Spot Serum (RV $25): I know I was first introduced to this product in a Petit Vour Beauty Box, but after looking through all my cards I’m going to assume it was a bonus item because I don’t have it listed anywhere. I adore this serum. It has a very strong herbal scent that my boyfriend highly dislikes, (but I love). This stuff really keeps my blackheads in check. It doesn’t make them disappear, but they don’t get any worse. I love this serum for pimples because it really seems to make them smaller overnight. I have already purchased another bottle.
Nubian Heritage Indian Hemp and Haitian Vetiver Body Lotion (RV $3, full size $12.99): I got this lotion all the way back in my November 2015 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. This little bottle of lotion lived on my desk and lasted almost a whole year! I liked this product, but found it to absorb slowly. I won’t be purchasing a full size bottle unless I see it on sale somewhere and/or I miraculously run out of lotion.
NYX Makeup Brush Cleaner (RV $15): I hated this. I consistently followed the directions and let my brushes soak, rinsed, and repeated and I still could not get all the gunk out of my brushes. I will not be repurchasing.
Odacité Bl+C The Pimple Remedy Serum Concentrate (RV $3, full size $32): I received this serum in the September 2016 Petit Vour Beauty Box. I really enjoyed this product and it seemed to live up to its description. I helped with my stubborn chin and nose blackheads and kept the skin there nice and hydrated. If I didn’t already have a product that I love that did the same thing, I’d purchase this.
Physician’s Formula Argan Wear Bronzer in ‘Light’ (RV $14.95): This is my favourite bronzer I’ve ever used and I was devastated when it broke towards the end of October. Being towards the pale end of the skin tone spectrum, this bronzer provides just enough colour without making me look dirty or muddy. This product isn’t perfect for contouring because it’s slightly too glittery. I will definitely be purchasing this again once I use up the bronzers I have in my makeup box.
Revive Bath & Body Vanilla + Lavender Cold Process Soap Bar (RV $2.50, full size $6.99): This soap is from the October 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. Even though I don’t often use bar soap, I really enjoyed this product. The vanilla lavender scent is lovely. This soap lathers quite well and leaves your body squeaky clean. I’m considering purchasing a few bars for myself and possibly for my bar soap loving boyfriend.
Sassy+Chic Professional Blender Sponge (RV $1): Not a huge fan of this sponge. I purchased it from Dollar Tree because I wanted to try a sponge before fully committing to a more costly product like a Beauty Blender. This smelled terrible when I removed it from the package and took weeks to fully go away. This sponge does its job, but it’s not perfect and is very hard to get fully clean. I’ve since bought a different brand of makeup sponge that works so much better.
SK Pure Essentials Jasmine Citrus Body Scrub (RV $4.50, full size $18): I received this scrub in my September 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. This was a very nice scrub. It was just coarse enough to provide a good amount of exfoliation, but gentle enough that I didn’t feel like I was tearing my skin apart. My skin felt soft and moisturized after using without feeling oily like other scrubs have left my skin. I wish the jasmine scent was more prevalent, but the citrus was quite pleasant. I probably won’t purchase the full size since I tend to DIY my own scrubs when I need them.
St. Tropica Hot Oil Hair Mask (RV $4.50): This mask was included in the August 2016 Benevolent Beauty Box. There is a good amount of product in the packet, so I split it up into two uses. I don’t feel like this mask really did any more for my hair than plain coconut oil does. It left my hair very soft, but I did not notice any drastic volume after using. I’m going to stick to my coconut oil or rosemary oil if I’m looking for a mask since they give me the same result for much cheaper.
SUKI Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser (RV $11, full size $32.95): This product is from the March 2016 Petit Vour Beauty Box. This stuff smells amazing! I’m not usually a person to exfoliate in the morning, but I made multiple exceptions for this cleanser. The bright citrus scent wakes you right up. I thought this product was really fun since it starts out like your basic exfoliator, all tough and full of texture, but once you start washing your face, it turns to the softest foam. I really love how clean my face felt after using this cleanser. I could definitely see myself buying the full size container at some point.
The Wonder Seed Facial Cream (RV $16.95): This facial cream was included in the February 2016 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. I really did not like the smell of this product. It wasn’t bad, but reminded me of a mix of pollen, daisies and dandelions and that was too much to have stuck in my nose until the scent dissipated. The lotion was pretty moisturizing and was light enough to wear during the day. I will not be purchasing a full size tube of this.
Tom’s Long Lasting Unscented Deodorant (RV $4.99): I hated this product for its intended purpose, but it worked great as a way to keep ingrown hairs at bay after shaving. As a deodorant, this product did not help keep odor away and I was smelly within a hour of using it. I know that Tom’s works for a lot of people, but this was my second attempt using their deodorants and I will not be trying them again.
True Moringa Lavender Facial Oil (RV $3, full size $26): I received this product in the August 2016 Petit Vour Beauty Box. I enjoyed this oil. I feel like I had to use a decent amount of product to have enough to cover my whole face. The lavender scent was lovely and super relaxing. This oil absorbs into your skin pretty quickly which is a huge plus for me. If I didn’t already have a facial oil that I love, I’d consider purchasing a full size bottle of this.
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara (sample, RV full size $22): I wasn’t a huge fan of this mascara. It gave me really clumpy, spidery lashes which I was able to rectify by using a wand that I cleaned and saved from a past Pacifica Aquarian Gaze tube. I did like how dark black and long it made my lashes look, but not enough to buy it.
Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm (RV $9.50, full size $36): I received this product in the April 2016 Petit Vour Beauty Box. I enjoyed how moisturizing this face balm was and how quickly it absorbed. As I wrote in my April post, it has a very herby/floral scent that after further use I began to dislike. I would not purchase this product in the future.
Essie ‘Naughty Nautical’ (RV $8.49-8.99): This nail polish keeps separating and has started to go on clumpy. Time to get rid of it.
O.P.I. ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ (RV $9.99-10.79): I really love the colour of this polish, but it’s so old and applies so thick.
Showcase Hollywood Cosmetics Palette: I received this palette in a class I took YEARS ago. It’s great if you wear all kinds of shimmery, colourful shadow, but it’s not for me. I depotted a few shadows, blushes, and lipsticks that I do actually use, but I’m finally getting rid of the rest.
Until next time,
